Perhaps the oldest cherry tree in Japan, an edo-higan in the grounds of Jisso-ji temple thought to be 1,800 to 2,000 years old, with a trunk nearly 12 m round. One of Japan's three great cherry trees, and in 1922 among the first cherry trees made a national natural monument.
