About this spot
Kumamoto Castle is nicknamed "Ginnan-jo", Ginkgo Castle, after the tree its builder Kato Kiyomasa planted in the main bailey. The great ginkgo there today grew back from the roots of that tree after the 1877 fire. Castle keep adults 800 yen.
