About this spot
About 6,000 plum trees of some 200 kinds at the shrine where Sugawara no Michizane is buried. By the main hall stands the Tobiume, the "flying plum" said to have flown overnight from his Kyoto garden to follow him into exile, thought to be over 1,000 years old.
